The Plain Dealer reports this morning that the city of Parma (my fair inner-ring suburb) has cancelled its July 4th fireworks display. The $50K price tag (25 for the fireworks plus another 25 in overtime for police, fire and other departments) was just too much. “The bottom line is we can’t spend money we don’t have” says Mayor Dean DePiero.
Hopefully, Cleveland hasn’t cancelled its fireworks show.

No worries, Miles, we’ll have you over here in Payton Place, Tremont.
As long as we can see the fireworks on Edgewater, or are you thinking more the neighborhood variety? I’ll bring the Roman Candles!
Boy, it’s getting ugly out there, isn’t it? I missed that story in the PD, so was glad to catch it here. Be careful with those candles, boy. Don’t injure your writing fingers.
On second thought, maybe I’ll just go with non-explosive fireworks, like smoke bombs, to protect my vocation!
You never can be too careful when it comes to your work tools. And in our case, that means brain and fingers.
And, I’d add, a reliable Internet connection.
Right you are.
