The destination for the day was Frank Lloyd Wright’s Price Tower in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, about 180 miles from Oklahoma City. It’s the only skyscraper the ol’ man managed to get built in his lifetime.

Here’s Price Tower, standing 19 stories tall in the middle of the great American prairie.

And a view of Bartlesville from the 19th floor.

This qualifies as the most interesting thing I’ve come across in a couple months. Thanks for sharing it, Miles. I’m going to drill down and learn more about this building. Look forward to hearing more about your trip.
He actually designed a mile-high building which was never built, although they’re getting awfully close in Dubai with buildings that are cracking the 2,000-ft barrier.
This design was an alteration from a plan for a group of apartment buildings at St. Mark’s Place in Manhattan, which were never built.
FLW was so prolific that I’m always learning new things about him as well.
He may well qualify as the single most interesting person of the 20th century, rivaled perhaps only by Einstein.
