Is there truly something to be said for this analysis of the McCain-Palin combo? (The magazine, n+1, is a very young, four-year old pub, but features writing like you’ll find nowhere else.)
Ironically enough, the right’s constant drumming of the “culture of life” seems to belie the underlying death-wish culture that seeks out war, supports the death penalty, and is never at a loss to glorify bloody sacrifice. The question we might have to ask is does the majority of the country feel moved by the positive message of Obama (call it the Freudian life drive) or is it motivated more by this death drive?

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackGood for you for pointing to this excellent pub, Miles. It shows you’re hip to some of the most interesting, edgiest writing out there. I was going to link to this pub some time back, but decided against it because I thought it might lose some of my audience. What a silly thing to worry about! So thanks for the silent reminder.
