Sorry for the poor pun. I couldn’t resist…
So far, what I’ve seen of Seoul has been impressive. You can say that its a fairly typical Asian mega-city (I think the population is well over 10 million) with unrelenting traffic day and night, packed buses and subway trains, and mobs of people on sidewalks. And yet, [...]

I’m in Seoul for the World Congress of Philosophy; 3,000 philosophers from 102 countries reading papers, arguing, and drinkingĀ for 7 days. All of which means I’ll be posting less for the next few days. Actually, the dividing line is tomorrow when I have to present my paper at 11 AM, then I can start sight-seeing [...]

You just haven’t experienced Australia until you’ve been in a ferry, crossing Sydney Harbour, in a thunderstorm. And oh yeah, standing outside on the ferry taking pictures while sane passengers huddle inside, protected from the icy cold winds and rain. Me and a teenage kid were the only ones outside. “It aint so bad out [...]

just cross the Harbour Bridge. Today was a gloomy, cloudy, rainy day. I had planned on spending a day in the Blue Mountains, about an hour outside of the city, but woke up too late. That and the fact that it was raining made me switch to Plan B: Improvise.
This meant walking around the city [...]
